The Bishop of North Mbale Diocese Rt. Rev. Samuel Gidudu has
warned against commercialisation of political campaigns.
Bishop Gidudu sounded
the warning on Sunday at the home of the Budadiri East legislator, Isaiah
Sasaga in Suguta village, Bumalimba Sub County in Sironko District.
Gidudu was presiding
over a thanksgiving ceremony for Sasaga who graduated recently with a Master’s
Degree in social planning from Makerere University.
According to Gidudu,
because of commercialisation of politics, several Members of Parliament are not
up to their legislative role just because voters are manipulated with money at
the time of elections. He wants government to come up with a regulatory
framework that will see politicians engaging in voter bribery disqualified.
Isaiah Sasaga urged
parents to educate their children so as to have a productive population that
can move the country forward.
