Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) elections in Bulambuli District were marred with allegations of violence against candidates vying for party positions.

The elections were held at Bunamuje primary school in Buyaga town council.

Geoffrey Tembei the Bulambuli District FDC party registrar says that before the election of the party’s District Chairperson, both candidates; Emmanuel Sabunyo and Moses Samali agreed to the lining up of voters in order to select the winner. Tembei says the two camps agreed that lining up was the most transparent mode of electing the District party Chairperson.

Francis Nandala one of Sabunyo’s supporters claims his candidate was beaten up by Samali’s supporters. Nandala accuses Samali of bringing people to disorganize the party’s elections. Elections were later held with Samali beating Sabunyo. Samali garnered 185 votes against Sabunyo’s 120 votes. Efforts to get a comment from the two candidates were futile.
