Budadiri East Member of Parliament, Julius Nakiyi, has engaged government through the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) to secure and upgrade the power transformer for Budadiri Town Council.
The intervention comes after Budadiri Town Council spent about two months without electricity following the breakdown of the old 100KVA transformer, which was overloaded and unable to meet the growing demand.
The new transformer, rated at 315 KVA, has been dispatched from UEDCL stores in Kampala, heading to Mbale before final delivery to Sironko for installation.
Nakiyi has urged residents of Budadiri East to use the power infrastructure responsibly and desist from illegal connections. According to Nakiyi, illegal connections disrupt supply, damage equipment and cause deaths.
