Police in Bududa are holding two people on allegations of stealing government drugs.

Rogers Taitika the Elgon Region Police Spokesman identifies the suspects as Dison Makwa aged 55 and a resident of Namangolo village, Bufukhula parish, Bushiribo Sub County in Bududa District and Kitakufe Abdallah aged 49 and a resident of Nabweya A-cell, Nabweya ward in Northern City Division in Mbale City.

According to Taitika, an informant on Thursday notified Police in Bududa that some individuals were selling government drugs at the weekly Bukigai market.

Taitika says a team of police officers was dispatched for a fact finding mission and indeed found Kitakufe and Makwa selling the government drugs which led to their arrest. Taitika says three boxes filled with an assortment of drugs were recovered.

According to Taitika their informants observed that the two suspects have been vending drugs at abnormally low prices which necessitated an inquest into their activities. He says the informants discovered the suspects were dealing in government drugs with the boxes clearly bearing inscriptions of ‘Not for sale, Property of the Government of Uganda.’

Taitika says the two suspects are neither medical workers nor do they possess licenses to sell drugs. He says they face charges of unlawful possession of government stores.
