Echodu made the commitment on Saturday while meeting NRM delegates from Bugisu Sub region at Mbale Secondary School.

According to Echodu, it is unfortunate that once the election season is over, party structures are often forgotten and abandoned. Echodu says that NRM party structures need to be economically empowered and supported because they play a critical role in mobilization. Echodu also condemned the practice of mobilisers from Kampala going upcountry to drum support for NRM. He says that the party structures in the different Districts and Cities should instead be used to mobilize.

He also accused some NRM leaders of telling lies and not honoring their commitments after the election season. Echodu castigated some leaders for making endless historical lectures instead of dealing with problems like unemployment that have plagued the country.

Charles Walimbwa Peke the NRM Chairperson for Manafwa District said it is important to NRM leaders at national level to engage party structures through meetings so as to understand the issues that affect the people. According to Walimbwa, most leaders once elected disappear and only return during election time.

Moses Wambogo the NRM Chairperson for Mbale District urged Echodu that once elected, he should always get back to the party structures for feedback so as to continue building a strong foundation for NRM at all levels.

Maimuna Khayongo the District Councilor representing Lwakhakha town council welcomed the plan of empowering structures and remaining in touch with them. Kyayongo says the position of National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda is a ticket to the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and therefore structures should always be consulted on the issues affecting the party on the ground.

Echodu will take on the incumbent, Flight Captain Mike Mukula in an election that will be held at the NRM National Delegates Conference slated for 27th and 28th at Kololo Independence Grounds, Kampala.
