Clan leaders have been asked to spearhead the development of communities.

This call was made by Chris Matembu Wataka who was re-elected Umukuka of the Banangabo clan.

The re-election came after a petition by Ronnie Walukhu Wataka and a section of the outgoing committee members who accused Matembu of taking over the leadership of the clan an illegal manner following elections that were held on 28th January 2023. Fresh elections were held last Saturday at Banangabo Primary School playground with Matembu garnering 594 votes against Walukhu’s 466 votes.

Upon re-election Chris Matembu promised to start development projects for his people. Matembu said he will work hand in hand with Bugisu Cooperative Union Chairman Nathan Nandala Mafabi to renovate the nonfunctional coffee societies in Bunangabo and the entire Bubulo West Constituency in Manafwa District.

Christopher Natifu, the outgoing Umukuka of the Banangabo clan pledged to work with Matembu to develop the clan.

Juliet Harono, Ingituku Patrick and Oliver Wabule say they chose a unifying leader who is development oriented.
