Bamasaba Cultural leader Jude Mike Mudoma has announced the dissolution of Inzu Ya Masaba, a cultural institution set up to oversee the cultural governance of the Bamasaba.

This was announced through his spokesman Stephen Masiga. Masiga said that Inzu Ya Masaba is now dissolved.

According to Masiga, governance will now transition to a new set up; Bukuka Bwe Bamasaba which aligns with the Ugandan constitution. He says in Mudoma’s view, the Inzu Ya Masaba constitution is not legally tenable under the Cultural Leaders and Institutions Act of 2011.

But Nelson Wedayila the speaker of Inzu Ya Masaba who was recently sacked as minister of cultural division/ Inclusive dispute resolution describes the move as useless and should be ignored by the public. Wedayila says the Inzu Ya Masaba was approved by the Ugandan Parliament in 2011, after the six Bugisu district councils passed a resolution adopting the setting up of the institution.

According to Wedayila, it appears there is someone misleading Mudoma with a view of amending the constitution and having the Bamasaba cultural leader rule for life.

Charles Walimbwa Peke the former prime minister of Inzu Ya Masaba says he will soon issue a statement surrounding the confusion being orchestrated by Jude Mike Mudoma.
