This call was made by former Bubulo West Parliamentary contestant In Manafwa District, Chris Matembu Wataka. According to Matembu, most clans are disjointed and and this has hindered development.

Matembu was on Saturday elected as the head of the Bunangabo clan in Manafwa District. The clan has more than 2,000 members drawn from Bugisu and neighboring Kenya and Sudan.

Matembu said that clan leaders must work towards improving the lives of the people through education and promotion of development programmes. He said this helps to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor in the community. He promised to work hand in hand with Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU) management to rejuvenate cooperative societies in Bubulo West and areas like Bunangabo and Butta.

Bunangabo clan members, Saul Namunyu, Nathan Manyali and Madina Namono said they elected Matembu on ground that he is a development oriented leader.
