34-year-old Wafula Mulumeti is being held on allegations of murdering
his biological mother in Bubulo village, Buwambigwa parish, Namboko Sub County
in Namisindwa District.
Safu Sitsangi an eye witness says that Mulumeti
allegedly sexually abused his 67-year-old biological mother and then hit her
with a hammer. According to Sitsangi, trouble started when the suspect and a
group of other men were got taking opium in the deceased’s house. He claims
Mulemeti and his group locked up the deceased, sexually abused and later killed
her.
Julius Wopucho a
local leader says before her death, the old woman raised an alarm which
attracted the attention of residents. The residents wanted to lynch Mulumeti
and his group. Wopucho says they managed to save Mulumeti and was handed to
police at Butiru Police Post in Manafwa District while his accomplices took
off.
Emma Bwayo the
Namisindwa District Youth Councilor has called for responsible parenting to
avert such acts among the young people.
Efforts to get a
comment from Rogers Taitika the Elgon Region Polie Spokesman were futile.
