Two leaders from the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Sironko District have joined the ruling National Resistance Movement party.

The two leaders include Paul Nangoli, the District Councilor representing Busulani Sub County and Stephen Madanda, the LCI chairperson for Namaguli.

Nangoli attributes his decision to join NRM to Budadiri East Parliamentary hopeful Julius Nakiyi who convinced him to join the ruling party.

Stephen Madanda, says that following the defection to NRM, he will drum support for Julius Nakiyi and NRM in the coming elections.

Wilson Wambaka, the NRM administrative assistant for Sironko district urged the new members to uphold the party’s principles and mobilize other people to join the ruling party.

But Patrick Waniale, the FDC party chairperson for Sironko has dismissed the defections saying the two were already working for NRM. Waniale says that FDC is focused on grassroot mobilization and vetting of candidates for the various elective positions in the coming general elections.
