A 22 year old woman in Makhola village, Bwiri parish, Bumwoni Sub County in Namisindwa District is on the run for allegedly dumping her two weeks’ old baby boy in a pit latrine.
Robert Wasike the LCI Chairperson for Kongoli village where the baby was retrieved from the pit latrine identifies the woman only as Doreen. Wasike says the baby was dumped in a pit latrine belonging to one Martin Manyolori. Manyolori heard the baby cry when he visited the pit latrine.
James Nalunyu the LCII chairperson for Bwiri parish says they dismantled the latrine and retrieved the baby who was still alive.
Michael Khaukha the LCIII chairperson for Bumwoni Sub County says the baby is now at Magale Health Centre III undergoing treatment.
