Parents and guardians of pupils who were involved in an accident in Manafwa District are struggling to meet medical expenses at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital
The accident which occurred on Tuesday last week at Kufu Trading centre along the Manafwa-Mbale road saw a fuso truck registration number UBJ 994J carrying over 200 Pupils of Nakhupa Primary school overturn, leaving one pupil dead and 116 severely injured.
According to Dr. Yonas Oboth, the Principal administrator at Mbale Regional Referral says that out of 116 pupils who were admitted, 107 were discharged. Oboth says nine pupils are still admitted and one of them in the high dependency unit.
Robert Wokuti, one of the parents says despite his patient’s condition improving, there is need for financial support to access medicine. Wokuti is calling for support from well-wishers leaders at various levels.
Daphine Nakhayali, a single mother says the hospital administration is committed to offering the best medical care for her patient but the need to buy some drugs and food is a challenge.
Kikayi Hosea Kimono, the LCV Chairperson for Manafwa district has called for calmness saying they are working out modalities of supporting accident victims.
