National
Drugs Authority (NDA) has closed more than 100 unauthorised drug shops and
impounded 300 boxes filled with drugs worth 80 million shillings in an
operation carried out in Eastern Uganda.
Speaking at a press conference, Samuel Kyomukama the head of
enforcement at NDA said the operations targeted the Districts of Budaka, Mbale,
Pallisa, Kween, Bududa, Mbale City and Sironko among others. According to Kyomukama, the operation targeted unregistered drug shops
and unqualified people managing them.
Duncan Okello the Elgon Region Deputy
Police Commander has called for compliance saying operations will continue.
