authorities in Sironko District say the death of a mother at Buwasa Health
Centre was as a result of lack of blood and not negligence as alleged on social
media.
Dr. Paul Wakoko the acting Sironko District Health
Officer says it is not true that an expectant mother died at Buwasa Health
Centre IV because she could not raise 200,000 shillings to undergo an
operation.
Several social media platforms were awash with
news that a mother who had failed to raise 200,000 shillings for an operation
had died. According to Wakoko, the mother underwent the operation but died due
to lack of blood at Buwasa Health Centre IV.
He says as they were planning to transfer the
woman to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for blood transfusion, she died. He
says the state house health monitoring unit will soon be in Sironko and
comprehensive report about the incident will be made public.
