Traditional surgeons under the Bamasaba Cultural Institution are to be accredited ahead of circumcision next year.
Before accreditation, the traditional surgeons will undergo mandatory training under the auspices of the Bamasaba Cultural Institution. Moses Kutoyi, a custodian of culture at the Bamasaba Cultural Institution, says that all practicing certificates that were issued to traditional surgeons in 2022 are now null and void.
Kutoyi says that new certificates will be issued to surgeons who will successfully complete the training ahead of circumcision year, 2024. According to Kutoyi, in a bid to control the spread of STDs, all surgeons will be required to have more than ten knives. Kutoyi says severe consequences await surgeons who will not heed to the directives.
Kutoyi also says the time for holding traditional circumcision processions will be regulated to avert any possible security threats.
