Government has been asked to handle all cases of children affected by Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus conditions.
Spina bifida is a neural tube defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord of a fetus don't form properly, while Hydrocephalus is the buildup of fluid in the brain of a child or a fetus. Nambuya, who is a resident of Manafwa cell in Bufukhula central ward, Busiu Town Council in Mbale District wants government to train enough specialists to manage spina bifida and hydrocephalus conditions.
Nambuya wants mothers to take good care of children affected by the two conditions. She also advises pregnant mothers take folic acid in order to reduce chances of producing children affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
She has also warned against stigma towards children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus saying some fathers even disown the affected children.
