Stephen Obbo the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital Director says the patients include mothers and children who died after failing to access blood for transfusion. Obbo has asked government and non-government actors to seriously take up the matter to save lives.

Didas Atwebembere the Principal Lab Technologist at Mbale Regional Referral hospital says they need about 100 units of blood but currently only receive 13 units which is inadequate.

David Mafabi a parent whose child succumbed to anemia has called for voluntary blood donation by the public to save lives in hospitals.

Effort to get a comment from Ahmed Bumba the Manager Mbale Blood Bank were futile.
