Authorities at Buteza Seed Secondary School in Namugabwe Sub County in Sironko District have announced a ban on students carrying mobile phones.
Zadoki Guwondo the head teacher, Buteza Seed Secondary School announced the ban at the school’s annual general meeting. Guwondo said the ban follows an observation that students now spend most of their time on social media during classes while others watch adult content which endangers their lives.
Fred Wozisi the school’s board of governors’ chairperson says that any student with a mobile phone will not be allowed to access the school. Wozisi has also asked parents to closely monitor their children.
Winnie Nabuzale one of the parents welcomes the ban saying this will enable the students to concentrate.
Benard Namisi another parents disagrees with the decision saying the phones support the student’s research.
