The health units have reportedly gone three months without drugs. The National Medical Stores supplies drugs to all government health facilities on quarterly basis.
A health worker at Busamaga health centre III in Busamaga ward, Industrial City who preferred anonymity says they last received drug supplies last year. According to the medic, they expected drugs to be supplied in January this year in vain. The health worker now says that patients are now sent to private clinics to buy drugs.
Annet Kainza and Sunday Wabini who failed to get drugs at Busamaga health centre III have asked government to urgently stock drugs to save lives.
Charles Wandera the Mbale City Health Inspector confirms that all health centre IIIs and IVs have had no drug supply for the last three months.
