A
7.2 kilometer Kaliro-Pallisa road aimed at boosting trade between Busoga and
Bukedi has been launched.
The road was constructed over a
period of one year by Arab Contractors at a cost of $20 milion (73.2 billion
shillings).
Representing President Yoweri
Museveni at the launch, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East
African Affairs Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga urged the locals to use the road to
increase their household income through trade and agriculture.
Pallisa LCV Chairperson Patrick
Duchu welcomed the development but asked for additional kilometers of tarmac
roads to match the areas’ rapid growth.
Residents Sam Opio and Peter Odeke
expressed gratitude for the improved road, saying that its previous condition
had affected travel and trade.
