BCU Sets Prices for Upcoming Coffee Season

Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU) has announced new coffee prices ahead of the upcoming season.


 



BCU has set the price at 12,000 Uganda Shillings per kilogram for premium coffee and 11,500 Uganda Shillings for G1 coffee. This is inclusive of transport and commission costs.

 

BCU Board Chairperson, Nathan Nandala Mafabi has urged farmers to avoid selling their coffee to multinational companies, accusing them of exploiting farmers. According to Nandala, if all Bamasaba farmers supplied their coffee to BCU, their needs would be met in an efficient and timely manner.

 

BCU board treasurer, Nathan Mabonga said that they are committed to maintain competitive coffee prices and improving the payment system through instant cash for coffee delivered.

 

The BCU General Manager Barbra Wasagali, noted that there will be vigilance on the quality of the coffee supplied by the farmers with thorough inspections instituted.
