The road which covers the districts of Mbale, Manafwa and Namisindwa was constructed by the China
State Construction Company with a 140 billion shillings loan from the Africa Development Bank.
The potholes are visible in Bumbobi, Manafwa town council and in Bubutu.
John Musila the Member of Parliament for Bubulo East blames China State Construction Company of
carrying out shoddy works on the road. Musila wants the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to
take up the matter.
Allan Ssempebwa the UNRA Communications Manager has blamed heavy traffic for the problem saying
many cargo trucks now prefer to use the Bumbobi-Lwakhakha route when crossing over to neighboring
Kenya.
