The FUFA Executive Committee has introduced significant amendments to address hooliganism during football matches.

The amendments come barely a month since referee Fahad Kayuba was attacked after officiating the Uganda Premier League match between Express FC and UPDF at the Bombo Military Barracks. The match ended in a one-all draw.

Reports indicated that, on his way back to Kampala, Express FC supporters who were dissatisfied with the results and the officiating, attacked Sekayuba. The Culprits have since been identified as Noah Mukenya and Sulaiman Zimula.  In response to these incidents, FUFA has revised its competition rules.

In line with the amended Section 14 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, clubs will now bear the consequences of hooliganism of their fans outside the match venue. Previously, clubs were directly affected only if such acts occurred at or around the venue.

Meanwhile, according to FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein, the two fans who allegedly attacked referee Sekayuba have since been paraded at Matugga Magistrate and remanded until Novemvber 28th, 2023.
