The construction of the Kakyeka War Memorial Stadium has encountered setbacks due to the missing land title.
While appearing before the District Public Accounts Committee on Thursday, David Muhwezi, the Chief Administrative Officer, said that when he took over the office from Edward Kasagara, he was given photocopies of land titles and upon verification, it was found that some of the original land titles including that of Kakyeka could not be traced from the registry.
He said that they reported the matter to the Police and the former CAO was asked to make a statement with the police.
The Chairperson of the District Public Accounts Committee Herbert Kamugisha ordered the arrest of Edward Kasagara. He also said that Kasagara should appear before the committee to explain the whereabouts of the title. Constructed in 1984, Kakyeka War Memorial Stadium is home to Mbarara City Football Club and has a sitting capacity of 10,000 people.
