The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an Egyptian organization dedicated to promoting sports and games among young people.

This development was discussed during a recent working visit to Cairo, Egypt, by His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, and officials from the organization. The initiative was disclosed by Sheikh Juma Bakhit Cucu, the UMSC Education Secretary.

According to the program, eleven Muslim youths, aged 25 years and below, with talents in sports, will be invited to register with the respective offices of the Regional Assistants to the Mufti nationwide, starting from August 11, 2024. These youths will then participate in inter-regional competitions, from which the best performers will be selected for further training at a Sports Academy in Cairo, Egypt. Upon completion of their training, these youths will have the opportunity to pursue careers as professional footballers in a country of their choice.
