Uganda Cranes yesterday registered victory over Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily FC in a closed-door practice match played at Suez Canal Authority stadium in Egypt.

Goals from Richard Basangwa, Fahad Bayo, and Rogers Mato gave Micho’s side a new rhythm a few days after the same team lost their first practice match 2-0 to Kitara Region select team.

The defeat had triggered concern ahead of the crucial double header for Uganda Cranes against their rivals Tanzania in the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. But a win against a more reputable side relaxes the anxiety.

Uganda Cranes is preparing to clash with Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in a two-match series in the AFCON qualifiers. Uganda will host the first tie on March 24th, 2023, and will visit the Taifa stars four days later for a rematch.

Cranes Coach Milutin Sredojevic Micho said the friendly match has given the technical bench the best chance to identify the players who will be fit for the Tanzanian game.
