The Federation of Uganda's Football
Associations (FUFA) has fined KCCA FC player Denis Iguma Shillings 500,000 for
making improper comments on social media.
According to a statement
from the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel, Iguma's posts insinuated match
manipulation at clubs without supporting evidence, which breached Article 31 of
the FUFA Competitions Rules.
On May 8, 2023, just three
days after KCCA FC's loss to arch-rivals Vipers, Iguma tweeted, "Feel
great to play for the best team in Uganda. Strong team with great players. No
bribing. No betting but real football," which is believed to have caused
him problems.
KCCA FC fans, led by Tom
Matovu, have reportedly used their WhatsApp groups to raise the necessary funds
to settle Iguma's fine.
KCCA FC was once six points clear at the top of the table but currently sits third, tied at 45 points with rivals Vipers. SC Villa leads the table with 46 points.
The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (FCDP) has opened disciplinary proceedings against player Denis Iguma regarding his statements on social media insinuating bribery and betting at some football clubs in the Country.
