Minister in Charge of General Duties in the Office of the Prime minister Justine Lumumba Kasule has asked leaders at government level to monitor government programmes for improved service delivery.

Lumumba sounded the call yesterday while presiding over a community dialogue (Baraza) at Namboko Sub County offices in Namisindwa District. The Baraza was organized by Office of the Prime Minister in conjunction with the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioners’ office.

Lumumba said that leaders at District and Sub County level are supposed to monitor programmes of health, roads among others in order to have value for tax payers’ money. According to Lumumba, because of poor monitoring of government programmes, contractors connive with technical personnel to swindle public funds meant for development projects.

Jackson Wakweika the Namisindwa LCV Chairperson urged government to allocate more funds to enable Namisindwa recruit enough civil servants. Wakweika says that Namisindwa currently only has one substantive head of department with the rest serving in acting capacity.

Hajji Imran Muluga the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner pledged to work hand in hand with the political wing to monitor government programs.
