The
National Resistance Movement electoral commission has confirmed the election of
Moses Wambogo as the dully elected party chairperson for Mbale District.
Wambogo’s win had been disputed with some leaders
accusing him of not resigning from the position of Assistant Resident District
Commissioner for Mbale District before contesting in the party elections as
required. A petition challenging Wambogo’s election was sent to the NRM
electoral commission asking for his nullification.
According to the NRM electoral commission chairperson
Dr. Tanga Odoi, they have carried out all the necessary investigations and
found that Wambogo actually tendered in his resignation with the office of the
president where he served as assistant RDC. Odoi said that following conclusion
of the investigations, Moses Wambogo was rightfully elected as the NRM
Chairperson for Mbale District.
Wambogo has welcomed decision urging his opponents to
unite for the betterment of the party. He has pledged to galvanize support for
the ruling party in Mbale District.
