Rita Namuwenge the National Coordinator for Emyooga and a consultant for the parish development model has warned against extortion in the implementation of government programmes.
Namuwenge said this at the burial of Jane Nabwire a resident of Dr. Gesa cell, Namunsi ward in Northern City Division in Mbale City.
According to Namuwenge, some beneficiaries of the parish development model have raised concerns of extortion and the public needs to report any officials involved. Namuwenge also asked the public to embrace the two government programmes so as to fight poverty at household level.
Namuwenge also asked the people of Dr. Gesa cell to support her quest of becoming the Mbale City Woman Member of Parliament. According to Namuwenge, her track record as a youth leader can be of great significance to the City once voted to Parliament. Namuwenge (NRM) will battle Lydia Wanyoto Mutende (NRM) and Harriet Kakai (FDC) for the position.
