Uganda's middle-distance runner Halima Nakaayi says that all her focus is now on the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after winning a silver in the women’s 800m final at the 13th All-Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
Nakaayi finished second with a time of 1:58:59 behind Ethopia’s Tsige Geniecu Duguma who won gold with a time of 1:57:73; while Kenya’s Vivian Kiprotich Chebet finished third, winning a bronze medal.
This is Nakaayi’s second medal in the 800m race at the continental games after winning a bronze medal back in 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. The other Ugandan in the 800m, Susan Aneno finished in sixth place at 2.04.79.
