Ugandan Athletes have started Track and Field training as
they seek to improve their performance at the 2023 Eastern Region Championship.
This will be the second edition of the
championships that will take place on Saturday, May 20th, at Sebei College
Tegeres grounds in Kapchorwa.
Benjamin
Njia, the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) National Coach and Vice President
Technical says that the training sessions for athletes have seen different
clubs give it a priority. According to Njia, all the track races and field
events like shot put, and javelin among others will be held.
Gloria
Chemutai, a middle-distance junior athlete, says that he will prioritize the
competition because he wants to use it as a chance to grab the opportunity of
being identified.
Alfred
Tunde, the Sports Officer Kapchorwa District, says the district has already
cleared and has allowed UAF to hold the competition as planned.
