United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) in partnership with Mbale City and the Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei Foundation are organizing the Elgon Half Marathon.
Cassim Namugali the Mbale City Mayor while addressing the media today at Mbale Resort Hotel said the marathon aims at promoting tourism and identifying talent.
According to Namugali, the 21 kilometre marathon will take place on 28 October, 2023 in Mbale City.
Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei the current world record holder for the 5000 metres and the 10,000 metres, says there are many young people with talent but have not been spotted, one of the reasons the marathon is being organized.
