Dorabo Tours and Travel have organized a half marathon in Mbale City with a view of raising funds that will go towards supporting health facilities with mattresses.
Michael Nandala the executive director Dorabo Tours and Travel in a press conference at Wash and Wills Hotel today said the half marathon will take place in Mbale City this Sunday with several people expected to take part.
He says that for one to participate in the marathon they just need to buy the running kit at 25,000 shillings. He also says that those intending to go for a trip to Kapchorwa on Saturday, 7th October will pay 50,000 shillings and also participate in the half marathon the following day.
Winnie Nambuba the Mbale City Senior Tourism Officer says the half marathon is also an opportunity to showcase the huge tourism potential in Bugisu.
Rogers Taitika the Elgon Region Police Spokesman has assured the public of security during the event.
