Residents of Butta Sub County in Manafwa District have been asked to be vigilant in a bid to curb cases of cattle theft in their area.
The call was made at a security meeting in Kibwili trading center. The meeting comprised residents, local leaders and security officials. The meeting follows an incident where thugs attacked the area and over 20 goats were stolen and slaughtered.
Martin Gyabi Wakimwanyi the Butta Sub County LCIII Chairperson said there is need for all residents to be on the lookout for suspected thugs who are behind the increased wave of criminality.
Sulayi Masayi, Ruth Masaza and Emma Mooli say the thugs usually slaughter the stolen animals before making off with the meat.
Simon Wabuye the internal security officer for Butta, asked the residents to also report suspicious people to the authorities.
