Five bridges across the country are to be reconstructed at a tune of 20 billion shillings.

The bridges to be worked on were constructed during the colonial rule. Speaking at the launch of the construction of Bunandasa-Bujiboni Bridge in Sironko District, Samuel Kirisa from the Bridge and Drainage Department said that each financial year, five bridges will be reconstructed across the country.

Kirisa said that most bridges constructed during colonial times are in bad shape and need to be worked systematically.

Musa Ecweru the state minister for works said that 5.4billion shillings had been allocated towards the reconstruction of the Bunandasa-Bujiboni Bridge. Ecweru said construction works are expected to take six months and when complete, it will ease movement of people and agriculture produce.

Isaiah Sasaga the Budadiri East MP said the bridge connects the areas of Mutufu town council, Nalusala, Buyobo in both Budadiri East and Budadiri West.

Nathan Nandala Mafabi the Budadiri West MP urged the people to residents to embrace the project saying it will improve connectivity and spur development. Nandala warned against theft of construction materials for the Bridge.
